knitted womb

This is a little gift I made for one of my friends who are pregnant. It's a 'knitted womb.' Newborns especially love these things because they feel swaddled, but because it's knitted with two strands of ultra-soft yarn, it gives and stretches like the lining of the uterus. I'm really looking forward to seeing how her little baby likes it, but I'll have to wait till December.

It's about 22 inches long and is very stretchy. I knitted it in the round using US size 13 needles (9mm). I'd be happy to share the pattern.

I've found that knitting is a lot like story-writing. It's this very evolutionary thing with a beginning middle and end. There is character development and side stories. And there is always a lesson to be learned.
